It's been a while since I drew an animal. Used mechanical pencil and colored pencil. The scanner made the image a little dull, since it didn't pick up much of the orange color. I had to use a photo reference since I'm not too familiar with frog and toad anatomy, let alone a particular specie.
I'll be honest bro this is really awesome work. Both the coloring and the anatomy. I can't say what to improve on man. But this is really great.

I used several references and this is one of them. [link] I couldn't add more tones much as I wanted partly because the handling the bumpy surface of the skin. Thanks.
I like the toad, something different than all the human pics you've been doing. As for critique, the head appears twisted in an odd fashion, i think its somethign with the shading of the neck is a bit off. The way its looking at me i think there might be a bit of a shadow. The skin texture is a nice touch and looks like it took a lot of work.
I'll still draw plenty of human and humanoid figures, but I'll try throw more animals and maybe other things in between for diversity. The bump on its skin had to be treated as bunch of small scattered domes, making the drawing process a good deal longer.
I'm not certain what you mean by how the shading makes the neck appear crooked.
I personally dont do shading too well, but i think theres supposed to be a shadow created by the part of the head thats slightly higher than the other.
ahh yes, the dreaded cane toads, they fear they're moving interstate now and adapting to cooler climates in the lower states of Australia... bad news.
